The 2021 NFL Draft is in the books. It’s now time for the juicy 2022 mock drafts. In this premier, I will outline the “notable draft prospects” to be selected in the 2022 NFL draft. Here is a 2022 NFL mock draft: Top 10 selections
- Houston Texans – QB Spencer Rattler
The Houston Texans lost J.J. Watt, Deshaun Watson’s status is up in the air, and their head coach seems to be a temporary fit. The Texans are favorites to land the first overall pick & Spencer Rattler holds freakish potential. NBC Sports also projects Rattler as the favorite to go number one.
- Detroit Lions – QB Sam Howell
The Detroit Lions hold potential with D’Andre Swift and TJ Hockenson, but the long term QB is a concern. Jared Goff’s ceiling isn’t daunting, especially on a team that will struggle to compete in 2021.
- New York Jets – CB Derek Stingley
Derek Stingley is on a New York Jets
defense team that lacks talent. Derek Stingley can be a playmaker from the safety. The Pro Football Focus freshman of the year in 2019 will be a slam dunk Top 5 pick.
- Carolina Panthers – DE Kavyon Thibodeaux
The Carolina Panthers are aching for pass rush talent. “Another one bites the dust” with pressure DT Kawann Short getting axed from the team. Kavyon Thibodeaux can anchor the Panthers defensive front as a rookie in the explosive NFC South.
- Atlanta Falcons – QB Tyler Shough
I believe the Atlanta Falcons made a mistake taking tight end Kyle Pitts and opting to “score a lot of points” vs taking a great long term QB. Expect the Falcons to pick high next season. The Falcons have a weak defense and running game amid a very competitive NFC South division .Matt Ryan likely has no more than three quality years from this point. Even if the Falcons find a way to squeeze out seven to eight wins in the brutal NFC South, they would be a favorite to trade up for a QB next year.
- Jacksonville Jaguars – S Kyle Hamilton
Urban Meyer will likely have a rookie QB that wins rookie of the year in 2021, but his team is still early in the rebuilding mode. Kyle Hamilton would be the perfect talent and fit for the Jaguars young defense. Expect the Jags to go defense in next year’s draft and there may not be a better fit for the two sides than any other pick for any other team in the first round.
- Las Vegas Raiders – WR Justyn Ross
Jon Gruden might just be allergic to wide receiver talent, but he will be forced to acquire one after this upcoming year — assuming they don’t replace Derek Carr. Henry Ruggs may or may not break out, but Ruggs and veteran WR John Brown aren’t going to be heavily leaned on WRs on the perimeter. Justyn Ross is the talent the Raiders need to finally overtake the Kansas City Chiefs.
- Cincinnati Bengals – DL Aidan Hutchinson
Pass Rusher Aidan Hutchinson and new FA signing Trey Hendrickson can be a dominant pass rushing duo in the AFC North. The Bengals are slowly building a very competitive roster in the AFC. The dominant DT/DE will bring back memories of John Randle, who was a QB nightmare in his prime.
- Dallas Cowboys – CB Kaiir Elam
The Dallas Cowboys are a good CB group away from being playoff contenders. The Boys aren’t just quite there yet. They are in the “lose a few shootout games phase”. Florida CB Kaiir Elam can help the defense and explosive offense get over the hump.
- New England Patriots – DL Drake Jackson
Bill Belichick adores versatile defensive pieces. Drake Jackson would be the perfect fit and talent at this spot for the Patriots defense. The Pats defense can slowly piece back together what they lost from the vintage 2019 unit with this pick.
